Acer Unveils Swift Air 14 Laptop to Compete with MacBook Neo

Acer has set its sights on challenging the MacBook Neo with the introduction of the new Swift Air 14 laptop, priced at $699. This 14-inch laptop is equipped with Intel’s lower-cost Core Series 3 “Wildcat Lake” chips, offering Core 5 or Core 7 models, both of which are six-core processors. The Swift Air 14 is available in green, pink, purple, and a gray-blue color, boasting an all-aluminum chassis.

In terms of specifications, the Swift Air 14 weighs approximately 2.76 pounds, similar to the MacBook Neo, but is slightly thicker at 12.9mm compared to the Neo’s 12.7mm thickness. The laptop features a 1920 x 1200 resolution screen with 350 nits of brightness, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate and claiming to cover 100 percent of the sRGB color space. Unlike the Neo, the Swift Air offers two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-A 3.2 port, and additional connectivity options.

The performance of the Swift Air largely hinges on Intel’s Wildcat Lake chip, which has shown promise in early benchmarks against the A18 Pro of the MacBook Neo. Despite starting with 8GB of RAM, which may raise concerns for Windows users, the laptop boasts a generous 70Wh battery capacity, promising extended battery life. Acer plans to launch the Swift Air in North America in August, with availability in other regions in July and Q3 for Australia.

Despite its large size, weighing 4.83 pounds, the laptop offers a 1920 x 1200 resolution screen with a 165Hz refresh rate and 400 nits of brightness.
