Google is reportedly working on a new ‘Pixel Glow’ lighting system that may be introduced with the upcoming Pixel 11 series. This feature, similar to Nothing’s Glyph lighting on the back of their phones, will provide subtle notifications when the device is placed face down, as per reports by Tech Advisor.

Previously referred to as “orbit” and “light_animations,” the latest Android 17 Beta now explicitly names it Pixel Glow. The system utilizes gentle light and color on the back of the device to alert users of important activity when the phone is face down.

One of the key benefits of Pixel Glow is the ability to receive notifications discreetly, even with the phone screen hidden during meetings or in public places. Users can expect customizable controls for different types of notifications, such as calls and alerts from favorite contacts.

According to 9to5Google, Pixel Glow notifications will also work with Gemini, ensuring users stay informed without constantly checking their screens. The system is designed to offer a seamless user experience while maintaining privacy.

While details about the Pixel 11 series designs are scarce, it is speculated that the Pixel Glow feature may be integrated into the ‘G’ logo or the camera bar of the devices. The unique design elements of the new models suggest hidden lighting elements that may not be visible in leaked images.
