Tim Cook’s Farewell Message as CEO of Apple

Dear Team,

Today marks the end of my tenure as CEO of Apple. While I always knew this day would come, it is still surreal to be writing these words. My love for this company and the incredible team behind it runs deep, and I couldn’t let this moment pass without expressing my gratitude for the overwhelming support and affection you have shown me throughout the years. It has been a privilege of a lifetime to lead this team.

The truth is, any success attributed to me is truly a reflection of the incredible team I have had the honor of working with. You have inspired me to be the best version of myself. I have never encountered a more exceptional group of individuals, and each day I am reminded of that fact.

Apple holds a special place in my heart. What I am most proud of goes beyond what can be captured in an annual report. Our culture, our shared belief that our work matters, and our commitment to leaving the world a better place are what set us apart. This purpose is what makes Apple extraordinary. While Apple fosters this environment, I believe it resides within each of you before you even join us. Together, we have achieved greatness that none of us could have accomplished alone. Our success lies in bringing out the best in one another, lifting each other up, and collectively making a difference in the world.

As many of you know, I am not departing from Apple entirely. However, I am stepping down from a role that has meant so much to me. I will miss this work in ways I can’t fully articulate, but I am at peace with my decision. While I will miss leading you, I am confident in passing the baton to John, a brilliant and capable leader who understands what it takes to create revolutionary products.

I want to express my deep appreciation for each and every one of you. It has been an honor to serve as your CEO. I hope you will continue to take pride in being part of Apple and give your best every day. When we bring our full selves to our work, show care for one another and those we serve, the impact we can make knows no bounds.

I eagerly anticipate the next chapter at Apple Park and beyond.
