Omoda X revealed with night vision and a tougher SUV look

Chery’s Omoda Jaecoo division recently introduced the Omoda X, a new crossover vehicle that boasts thermal imaging technology and a rugged SUV aesthetic. This model is set to join the Australian lineup, although details regarding its availability, pricing, and launch date in the country have not yet been disclosed.

The Omoda X showcases the brand’s ‘Crossvolution’ design philosophy, blending a robust, off-road appearance with the sleek lines typically found in modern crossovers. Described as a fusion of the agility of a sports car and the power of an off-road vehicle, this model aims to offer a unique driving experience.

Featuring distinctive wheel arches, durable lower-body cladding, and sharp panel creases, the Omoda X exudes a bold presence on the road. Its design includes jagged daytime running lights and lightning-inspired rear lamps, adding to its dynamic look.

Measuring 4650mm in length, 1910mm in width, and 1720mm in height, the mid-size Omoda X is comparable in size to popular models like the Toyota RAV4. It offers 200mm of ground clearance and a wading depth exceeding 700mm, along with 19-inch alloy wheels fitted with all-terrain tires.

The Omoda X will be available with two-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations, powered by either plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or electric (EV) drivetrains. The model is capable of towing up to 1800kg and can accommodate a roof load of 75kg, making it versatile for various needs.

One of the standout features of the Omoda X is its infrared thermal imaging system, providing night vision with a range of up to 90 meters. Inside, the vehicle boasts a Mecha Command Cockpit, complete with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.2-inch central touchscreen, and tactile controls for essential functions.

The Omoda 4 targets the small SUV segment, while the Omoda 7 competes in the mid-size SUV category, offering angular styling and advanced features.

Overall, the Omoda X represents a bold step forward for Chery’s Omoda Jaecoo division, combining innovative technology with a striking design language to appeal to modern drivers. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting crossover as it makes its way to Australian shores.
