Marvel Tokon: The Global Ban
The Expansion of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls’ Availability on Steam
Exciting news for fans of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls! The game’s Steam backend has recently updated its list of countries where the game is available for purchase. Previously, the game was not accessible in 132 countries, but now that number has decreased to 117. This change seems to be linked to the requirement of having a PSN account to access certain features of the game.
Automaton first noticed the update, revealing that only 117 countries are now excluded from purchasing or activating the game, as opposed to the previous 132 listed on Fighting Souls’ SteamDB entry.
Upon comparing the updated list with a previous screenshot, it was discovered that countries like Armenia, Azerbaijan, the Dominican Republic, and Egypt, among others, have been removed from the exclusion list. These countries are mainly located in Eastern Europe and Western Asia.
Unfortunately, the Vatican City State remains on the list of barred countries, meaning residents there will still miss out on the action-packed battles between Captain America and Spiderman.
It remains unclear whether this change signifies a gradual reversal of region bans, which were previously thought to be connected to PlayStation Network account requirements. Marvel Tokon’s case is unique, as its Steam page only mentions the need for a PSN account for online play and access to pre-order bonuses. Even individuals in countries where PSN is not available have reported being able to view the game’s Steam page.
With the game’s release date of August 6th approaching, it is hoped that more countries will be removed from the banned list. This is especially important considering that the single-player story mode of Tokon has been crafted by a lesser-known writer.
