Moore will serve as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer, known for his work on Outlander and Battlestar Galactica.

The God of War TV series is a significant project for Amazon, with a two-season order. Pre-production has begun in Vancouver, and filming is expected to commence in 2026, with a potential release date on Prime Video in 2027.

The storyline of the series will follow the adventures of Kratos, a Spartan warrior, and his son, Atreus, as they journey through the Viking age. The official logline describes their quest to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye, while navigating the complexities of godhood and humanity.

Ryan Hurst has been cast as Kratos, with Max Parker playing Heimdall and Teresa Palmer as Sif. Mandy Patinkin will portray Odin, the formidable antagonist to Kratos in the series. Additional casting for the show is still ongoing.
