A redesigned Play Store is coming to cars with Google built-in

The Latest Update from Google Play Store for Cars with Google Built-In

Google has announced a significant update for cars equipped with Google built-in, specifically targeting the Play Store. The update aims to enhance user experience by automatically adjusting the Play Store’s layout to fit the size and layout of the car’s screen. This update will simplify the process of discovering and downloading new apps for users.

Key Features of the Update

The upcoming update, set to roll out in the coming weeks, will introduce featured apps on the Play Store’s homepage. Users will be able to download these apps with a single tap, streamlining the app installation process. Additionally, Google promises a more user-friendly experience with a revamped navigation menu that includes categories like “Apps,” “Games,” “Search,” and “More” conveniently located on the screen.

Google Built-In Cars vs. Android Automotive

Cars equipped with Google built-in offer a different experience compared to vehicles featuring Android Automotive. With Google built-in, manufacturers can seamlessly integrate Google services and support for native Android apps directly into their vehicles. This integration was initially introduced in the Polestar 2 and later expanded to the Honda Accord Touring in 2023.

Exciting Additions and Features

In addition to the Play Store update, Google is introducing new apps such as Starz, Firefox, Ludo King, and JioHotstar, which users can enjoy while parked. Furthermore, users will have the ability to watch YouTube videos on their dashboard while parked and continue listening to audio while driving. However, this feature is exclusive to YouTube Premium subscribers.
