Revolutionary Nothing Phone (4b) Unveils Release Date and Snapdragon Processor

Following the revelation of its ambitious new budget phone strategy, the Nothing Phone (4b) has surfaced on a popular benchmarking tool – sparking cautious optimism.

Recent news has confirmed that there will be no direct successor (at least for this year) to the beloved budget phone, the CMF Phone 2 Pro.

Instead, Nothing is simplifying and refining its lineup with a fresh budget-friendly phone option. The Nothing Phone (4b) is shaping up to mirror the design of the Nothing Phone (4a) with a similar semi-transparent look and a single camera – which could be a positive development.

The Nothing Phone (4b), identified as the Nothing A009P on Geekbench, has generated mostly positive impressions.

Nothing has also announced on X the release date of July 7 (at 11 am BST) for the Phone (4b), along with a teaser video showcasing various back designs of the phone.

Update: The design has now been officially unveiled, confirming key features.

Insights from the Nothing Phone (4b) Geekbench Benchmark

The benchmark listing reveals that Nothing’s new phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chip, potentially a step forward from the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro that drives the CMF Phone 2 Pro.

Nothing has confirmed that the Phone (4b) will utilize a Snapdragon chipset, although the specific model has not been disclosed.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chip, featuring a more modern ARMv9 CPU architecture compared to ARMv8, represents a slightly newer technology than the Dimensity 7300.

While the performance gap may not be significant in practice, the higher clock speed of the Dimensity 7300 Pro could offset the advantages of the newer chip.

The single-core score of 1088 and multi-core score of 3155 for the Nothing Phone (4b) are marginally higher than the CMF Phone 2 Pro’s scores. This suggests that the Nothing Phone (4b) will not lag behind its predecessor in terms of performance.
