Apple is gearing up to wrap up its product launches for 2026, with a few surprises in store for tech enthusiasts. While the tech giant has already unveiled a slew of new products this year, one notable absence from the lineup is the entry-level iPad.

Rumors were rife earlier this year about the imminent release of the “iPad 12,” but Apple’s March event came and went without a mention of the budget-friendly tablet. The speculation at the time suggested that Apple was holding off on the iPad launch to give the spotlight to the MacBook Neo, a newly released affordable laptop aimed at students and budget-conscious consumers.

The rumored “iPad 12” is expected to come equipped with Apple Intelligence, a feature that the current iPad lacks. With the A16 chip powering the current model, an upgrade to support the company’s AI technology seems inevitable. However, Apple’s CFO hinted during the Q2 earnings call that the new iPad wouldn’t be making an appearance in the third quarter of 2026.

With Apple traditionally avoiding summer product releases, industry experts are now looking towards a fall launch for the long-awaited iPad. Speculation points to a possible September or October release, aligning with Apple’s fourth quarter and holiday season product launches.

Despite the lack of concrete details about the new iPad, tech analyst Mark Gurman has dropped a bombshell by revealing that the entry-level iPad won’t be making its debut until 2027. In his newsletter, Gurman mentioned an upcoming online launch event in late October, which will mark Apple’s final product unveiling for the year.

While the entry-level iPad remains a no-show, Apple is set to introduce a new OLED iPad mini, expected to come with a higher price tag compared to its predecessor. The tech giant is also gearing up for two product releases this month, including a new smart home hub and refreshed Apple TV lineup, followed by a range of releases in late October featuring the new touchscreen MacBook Pro and updated MacBook models.

As tech enthusiasts eagerly await the arrival of the new iPad and other Apple products, it’s clear that the tech giant is gearing up for an exciting end to 2026 and a promising start to 2027. Stay tuned for more updates on Apple’s latest offerings and innovations.
