Samsung One UI 9 Unveils Long-Awaited Call Feature: A Game-Changer for Users

When it comes to communication, traditional phone calls are becoming less common for many individuals. Third-party services like WhatsApp have taken over as the primary mode of communication for a lot of people, leading to a fragmented user experience across multiple apps.

However, Samsung’s upcoming One UI 9 is set to change that. The public beta of One UI 9, based on Android 17, is now available for Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra users.

One of the key updates in One UI 9 is the inclusion of call history from third-party apps like WhatsApp and Google Meet directly within the stock Phone app. This new feature allows users to view detailed call information from these apps seamlessly.

Additionally, the new dialler interface in One UI 9 showcases a prominent Google Meet icon, hinting at the possibility of initiating calls with a single tap. This enhancement is expected to streamline the calling experience for users who heavily rely on WhatsApp and Google Meet.

The feature is said to be enabled by default, but users have the option to customize or disable it by accessing the settings within the Phone app.

Despite the exciting advancements, some key apps like Messenger, Telegram, Signal, Discord, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams are not currently supported by the new call history integration feature in One UI 9. This limitation may result in an incomplete call history for some users.

While Messenger remains a notable absence, there is hope that more platforms will be integrated into the feature in the future. The rollout of One UI 9 beta is currently exclusive to Galaxy S26 devices but is expected to expand to other Samsung Galaxy handsets soon. The full version is anticipated to launch on Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices in July.
