2027 GMC Sierra has new V8s, but EV-inspired styling

The New GMC Sierra: A Luxurious Sibling to the Chevrolet Silverado

The latest addition to the GMC lineup, the sixth-generation GMC Sierra, has made its debut ahead of its official launch later this year. This new model, described as the more upscale counterpart to the Chevrolet Silverado, features updated platform, body, interior, and drivetrain options.

Inspired by the design of the Sierra EV, the new Sierra showcases distinctive styling elements such as redesigned headlights and a more refined use of chrome on the grille.

One of the most significant updates lies under the hood, with the introduction of two new small-block V8 engines in 5.7- and 6.6-liter capacities. These engines boast a new injection system, enhanced combustion, cooling efficiency, and overall durability compared to their predecessors.

While specific performance figures are yet to be disclosed, it is anticipated that these new engines will outperform the current 5.7-liter and 6.2-liter V8 options.

Additionally, there will be an updated version of the TurboMax 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine available for those seeking a more fuel-efficient option.

For diesel enthusiasts, GMC offers the exclusive 3.0-liter straight-six Duramax engine, known for its robust performance. All engine options come paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Setting itself apart from the Silverado, the Sierra boasts premium features such as higher quality trim options and a unique dashboard layout. The Denali Ultimate trim, in particular, stands out with its three large screens, including a 12.2-inch instrumentation display, a 16.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and an 11.5-inch passenger screen.

The Denali Ultimate trim also features a 16-speaker Bose sound system and innovative screen articulation for added functionality and convenience.

For off-road enthusiasts, the AT4X variant offers a rugged design with advanced features like a 2.0-inch lift kit, Multimatic Jounce Control dampers, and electronic locking differentials.

Inside, the AT4X boasts enhanced front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and premium interior finishes, including a unique ‘Timber Mahogany’ color scheme.

The 2027 GMC Sierra is set to hit the US market by the end of 2026, offering a blend of luxury, performance, and versatility for discerning buyers.
