2027 GWM Tank 300L detailed as longer, PHEV-only off-roader, not yet confirmed for Australia

GWM recently unveiled the new Tank 300L, a stretched off-road SUV with impressive specifications. While the Chinese brand has released details about the vehicle, its availability in the Australian market is still uncertain.

According to a statement from a GWM Australia spokesperson, the new Tank 300L is currently intended for the domestic market only. However, the local team will evaluate its suitability for Australian consumers in the future.

The Tank 300L is equipped with a Hi4-Z plug-in hybrid powertrain, similar to the one found in the Tank 500 and Tank 700 models in China. This setup includes a 180kW/380Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, a 59.6kWh ternary lithium battery, and electric motors on both axles.

With a total system output of 560kW and 1195Nm, the Tank 300L can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds. It offers an electric range of 200km on the WLTC cycle, with fuel consumption ranging from 0.85L/100km to 8.35L/100km.

The vehicle features a power split and three-speed front drive module, along with an ‘intelligent electric’ four-wheel drive system. It boasts a ground clearance of 235mm and impressive approach and departure angles of 38 degrees and 33 degrees, respectively.

While GWM Australia sees potential for introducing a Hi4-Z-equipped model in the local market, no specific details about its arrival have been confirmed. The existing Tank 300 model in Australia features a different powertrain setup compared to the new Tank 300L.

The Tank 300L comes with advanced safety features, including LiDAR technology and a range of radar and camera systems. It also offers autonomous driving capabilities and a Night Vision system for enhanced visibility.

Inside, the Tank 300L is equipped with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the latest Coffee OS 3.0 operating system. The interior design is similar to the updated Tank 300 model launched in China last year.

In conclusion, the new Tank 300L offers a compelling blend of performance, technology, and safety features. While the availability of this model in Australia is still uncertain, it represents a significant step forward for GWM in the SUV segment.
