The ransomware attack targeted the Multi-User System Environment (MUSE) utilized by airports, a software developed by Collins Aerospace to facilitate shared check-in desks for multiple airlines. While larger airlines like British Airways managed to mitigate the impact by switching to backup systems, smaller providers had to resort to manual check-ins, causing inconvenience to passengers.

Details of the Arrest and Investigation

The National Crime Agency provided limited information about the arrest, revealing that the suspect is a man in his forties who has been released on conditional bail as the investigation progresses. It appears that the attack may not have been highly sophisticated, as cybersecurity experts suggest that a relatively simple ransomware tool, such as Hardbit or Loki, was used in the incident.
