Amazon Resolves Technical Issues Impacting Shopping Experience

If you encountered difficulties while shopping on Amazon or accessing your playlists on Amazon Music on Thursday, you were not alone. Downdetector indicated a significant increase in reports of checkout, search, and login problems for over three hours. Both the website and mobile apps were affected. However, according to an Amazon representative speaking to The Verge, the issues have now been resolved.

Amazon spokesperson Jennie Bryant apologized for the inconvenience caused to customers during the technical difficulties. She stated, “We have addressed the issue, which stemmed from a software code deployment, and the website and app are now operating smoothly.”

Several Verge employees encountered problems firsthand during the outage. Many product pages displayed a “sorry, something went wrong” message, and pricing information was not visible even on loaded pages. Users reported frequent logouts when attempting to finalize purchases or view their carts. Even functional parts of Amazon.com experienced slow loading times.

While Amazon faced AWS disruptions in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates due to drone strikes by the Iranian military, there have been no reports of widespread outages in the US or other regions.

Update March 5th: Amazon has confirmed that the technical issues have been resolved.
