Ford Mustang GTD beats the Corvette ZR1X's Nurburgring lap time by 9 seconds

The Ford Mustang GTD Competition Breaks Nurburgring Lap Record

The Nurburgring’s official website recently released the onboard video showcasing the Ford Mustang GTD Competition setting a blistering lap time of 6 minutes and 40.835 seconds. This achievement comes shortly after Manthey Racing clocked a lap time of 6 minutes and 45 seconds in a 911 GT3 RS.

Not only did the Mustang GTD outpace the modified Porsche, but it also shattered the lap record previously held by its competitor, the Corvette ZR1X, by nearly 9 seconds. Last year, the ZR1X completed a lap in 6 minutes and 49.275 seconds.

The Mustang GTD represents the pinnacle of performance for the Mustang lineup. It boasts a custom aero package that includes hydraulically controlled front flaps and an active rear spoiler, as well as a semi-active suspension system with a front pushrod setup and a rear transaxle configuration.

Under the hood, the Mustang GTD is equipped with a monstrous 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that generates a jaw-dropping 815 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful Mustang ever produced. This powerhouse engine is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission for seamless power delivery.
