Unveiling the Ford F-150 Lariat Black Edition: Limited Availability Sparks Frenzy
Ford Australia Introduces F-150 Lariat Black Edition to Boost Sales
Ford Australia has recently added the F-150 Lariat Black Edition to its lineup in an effort to sell the remaining 2023 model-year (MY23) examples of the popular full-size pickup truck. The F-150 has faced stiff competition from rivals such as the Ram 1500, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and Toyota Tundra in terms of sales so far this year.
The Black Edition treatment is being applied to 230 units of the remaining MY23 stock of the F-150 Lariat LWB (long wheelbase) dual-cab by Ford. Additionally, there are 495 MY23 F-150 examples still available in dealer stock beyond this limited edition.
Pricing for the Black Edition has not been disclosed by Ford Australia. Interested customers are advised to contact their preferred Ford dealer for further details, as per a CarExpert spokesperson.
Originally priced at $140,945 before on-road costs, the MY23 Lariat LWB saw discounts of $8000 on older stock, bringing the price down to $132,945 plus on-roads. The newer MY24 F-150 Lariat is priced at $143,950 plus ORCs in SWB or LWB body styles, with the Black Edition exclusively available as a LWB vehicle.
The Black Edition features black exterior details instead of chrome, including the grille, bumpers, door handles, and mirror caps. It also includes 20-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, unique bonnet decals, and a black tailgate decal.
Equipped with a 298kW/678Nm 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, the MY23 Lariat Black Edition LWB shares the same specifications as the current MY24 version, including a 4500kg braked towing capacity.
Inside the Lariat Black Edition, leather-accented upholstery, 12-way power-adjustable front seats with memory function, and heated and ventilated front seats are retained. The vehicle also boasts a 12.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with built-in satellite navigation, a surround-view camera, an 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, a wireless phone charger, and a rear centre armrest with cupholders.
Standard driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, lane-centring, evasive steering assist, and front parking sensors.
Despite being the best-selling new vehicle in the US in 2025, with over 800,000 units sold, the F-150 has faced challenges since its reintroduction in right-hand drive form by Ford Australia in 2023. This includes multiple recalls and a temporary halt in sales in 2025, resulting in the Tundra outselling the F-150 for the first time that year.
The updated MY24 F-150, launched in August 2025 and arriving in Australian showrooms in early 2026, brought price hikes of up to $8000. Despite this, F-150 sales have rebounded in 2026, with the vehicle outselling its rivals in certain months but still lagging behind in year-to-date sales.
