Apple may potentially face delays in releasing its foldable iPhone this year, as per recent reports. The new device was expected to be announced alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in the fall. According to Weibo-based leaker Instant Digital, Apple has achieved a crease-free screen but is experiencing reliability issues with the hinge. This could result in delays, although Apple reportedly has time to address these problems before the scheduled launch in fall 2026.

Another leaker, Fixed Focus Digital, has mentioned potential delays due to problems with circuit boards, specifically surface-mount technology (SMT), as Apple ramps up mass production. However, this issue is seen as a manufacturing challenge rather than a design flaw. Despite these challenges, analysts believe that Apple will announce the foldable iPhone on time, although availability may be limited initially.

Historically, Apple has faced delays with new iPhone models, such as the iPhone 12 lineup in 2020 due to COVID-related supply chain issues. It wouldn’t be surprising if Apple unveils the foldable iPhone at its usual September event but delays availability for a few weeks. Limited supply could potentially leave some customers waiting until 2027 to get their hands on the new device.

Overall, while rumors and speculations abound, it’s essential to take all information with caution until officially confirmed by Apple. The tech giant has a history of unveiling new products with varying availability timelines, so it’s possible that the foldable iPhone may follow a similar pattern.
