CardLab reshapes leadership to scale passwordless authentication solutions

CardLab appoints Jan Bisgaard as new CEO

CardLab, a leading provider of trusted digital identities, has announced the appointment of Jan Bisgaard as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This strategic move aims to enhance the company’s international business growth and meet the increasing demand for secure digital authentication solutions.

Founder Frank Sandeløv will transition to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), where he will oversee technology, production, and operations aspects of the company.

The leadership changes, effective from 1 July 2026, come on the heels of the successful scale-up of CardLab’s Access FIDO biometric smart card and the launch of its FIDO Certified Authentication Platform. These milestones have positioned CardLab as a key player in the passwordless authentication solutions market, shifting its focus from technology development to delivering comprehensive authentication solutions.

As the demand for secure identity verification solutions continues to rise in a rapidly evolving technological landscape, CardLab is expanding its organizational structure to meet the needs of customers.

By combining biometric authentication, offline identity verification, and tokenization, CardLab aims to create trusted identities without solely relying on traditional online credentials.

Expressing his thoughts on the leadership changes, Sandeløv stated, “Collaborating closely with Jan has reinforced our shared vision for CardLab’s future. This transition enables me to focus on driving technological innovation and operational excellence, while Jan leads our commercial expansion efforts.”

CardLab’s International Growth Strategy

Jan Bisgaard, who joined CardLab as Chief Sales Officer in autumn 2025, brings a wealth of international B2B sales experience to his new role as CEO. He will be responsible for steering CardLab’s strategic direction, commercial operations, international sales, partnerships, and business development initiatives.

Meanwhile, Sandeløv will continue to oversee the technical and operational aspects of the business, ensuring a clear division of responsibilities to support CardLab’s expansion plans while maintaining a focus on product development and customer delivery.

Bisgaard expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “CardLab has achieved a significant milestone with a robust product portfolio, certified authentication technology, and growing market demand. I am excited to work with our talented team, partners, and customers to expand our presence globally.”

Meeting the Demand for Secure Digital Identities

Organizations are increasingly concerned about the reliability of digital identities in the face of advancing AI and computing technologies. CardLab’s passwordless authentication solutions, built on biometric verification and FIDO standards, offer a secure alternative to conventional identity verification methods.

By incorporating offline verification and tokenization into its approach, CardLab aims to establish trusted identities that prioritize security and convenience. The company’s growing customer base reflects the demand for a comprehensive authentication solution that goes beyond traditional password-based systems.

CardLab has responded to this market demand by ramping up production and preparing for further business expansion.

Enhanced Board Leadership

As part of its organizational changes, CardLab has strengthened its board leadership team. Jesper Kjær-Christensen has succeeded Kim Wagner Jørgensen as Chairman, bringing expertise in branding, marketing, and international business development to the role.

Additionally, Lars Svane Hansen has joined the Board, bringing valuable experience in guiding technology companies through growth phases and expanding their international presence.

These board appointments aim to enhance CardLab’s strategic capabilities as the company embarks on its next phase of development.
