Fluent Speech: Google’s AI Transcription Polishes Your Verbal Delivery
Google Introduces 3.5 Transcribe: A Game-Changer in Transcription Technology
Google has unveiled its latest transcription model, 3.5 Transcribe, which marks a significant leap forward from its previous model, Chirp 3. This new technology boasts enhanced multilingual performance and reduced wording error rates. Users can now effortlessly “edit naturally with just your voice,” thanks to Google’s innovative transcription capabilities. Moreover, 3.5 Transcribe can automatically format text and eliminate filler words such as “um” and “uh.”
Customized Transcription with 3.5 Transcribe
One of the standout features of 3.5 Transcribe is its ability to adapt to users’ unique requirements. By providing a customized vocabulary, the model can tailor transcriptions to specific spelling needs and specialized jargon, reducing the need for manual edits. Additionally, 3.5 Transcribe supports attribution of speech for up to three speakers in pre-recorded audio and offers word-level timestamps for greater precision.
Exciting Updates from Google
In addition to 3.5 Transcribe, Google has announced upcoming updates for Gemini Audio, namely 3.5 Live and 3.5 Live Experimental. These enhancements will build upon the existing speech recognition technology powering Gemini’s voice chat mode. While the launch of these models has been delayed, Google has highlighted the advanced features they will offer, such as improved handling of interruptions, enhanced language recognition, and real-time narration of complex tasks.
Availability and Future Plans
Gemini 3.5 Transcribe is set to roll out today in English for macOS Gemini app users and select countries and languages on Android through the Rambler dictation feature. Developers can also access this technology via the Gemini API in public preview. Google has confirmed that Chrome support will be added soon, expanding the reach of 3.5 Transcribe to a wider audience.
Update, August 26th: Google clarified that only 3.5 Transcribe is being announced currently, despite previous mentions of Gemini 3.5 Live and 3.5 Live Experimental.
