Gatik raises $200M to scale AI-powered autonomous freight

Gatik, an autonomous trucking company, has secured $200 million in Series D funding to enhance its driverless freight operations throughout North America. The investment round was spearheaded by Qatar Investment Authority and Koch Disruptive Technologies, with contributions from Millennium Management, ARK Invest, Intact Private Capital, and various other investors.

The company has announced over $600 million in contracted revenue and has successfully executed 85,000 fully driverless orders, boasting a remarkable 99% on-time delivery rate across all its operations.

Currently, Gatik’s autonomous trucks are responsible for transporting goods between distribution centers and stores across regional networks in Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, and Canada. With dozens of fully driverless trucks in operation, Gatik plans to expand its fleet to thousands in the near future.

According to a Gatik spokesperson cited by Reuters, the company aims to have over 100 driverless trucks by the end of 2026. Gatik intends to use the fresh capital to grow its commercial operations and fleet while also investing in technology, infrastructure, and its workforce.

From fixed routes to dynamic freight networks

Gatik’s autonomous vehicle system is tailored for regional freight routes encompassing highways and surface streets. The company’s proprietary AI system, Gatik Driver, powers its autonomous freight operations, with fully driverless trucks operating without a human driver or safety observer onboard.

Initially, Gatik and Loblaw launched an autonomous fleet in Toronto in 2020, with five vehicles running on five preset routes with fixed pickup and drop-off points. By 2022, the fully driverless Loblaw operation was handling ambient, refrigerated, and frozen goods between a distribution facility and five nearby stores on fixed, repetitive routes.

Gatik has evolved to operate dynamic routes that span highways and surface streets, utilizing dynamic route orchestration for networks with numerous pickup and drop-off locations. This flexibility allows for adjustments in route plans to accommodate shifts in demand and activities at distribution centers without significant network modifications.

Starting with fixed trips of less than 10 miles, Gatik now operates dynamic routes covering dozens of pickup and drop-off points over distances of up to 400 miles, focusing on middle-mile freight movement between warehouses, distribution centers, and retail locations.

In June 2026, Gatik inked a multi-year deal with PepsiCo to deploy autonomous freight vehicles within the company’s North American supply chain, operating across Texas, Arizona, and Arkansas. The operation includes 41 fully driverless box trucks moving Frito-Lay products between distribution centers and stores in Dallas, Phoenix, and northwest Arkansas.

Gatik has also expanded its partnership with Loblaw, with a five-year agreement signed in September 2025 for the deployment of 50 autonomous trucks across Loblaw’s distribution network in the Greater Toronto Area, transitioning from operations with safety drivers to fully driverless freight service.

Scaling AI and autonomous truck production

Gatik leverages simulation and synthetic data to develop and validate its autonomous driving software. In July 2025, the company introduced Arena, an in-house simulation platform generating synthetic data for testing autonomous driving behavior across various conditions, including routine and high-risk scenarios.

Arena incorporates Nvidia Cosmos world foundation models to create synthetic driving environments for training and validation purposes, enabling Gatik to repeatedly test different scenarios in simulation.

Gatik utilizes Nvidia hardware for onboard AI processing, integrating DRIVE AGX into its Class 6 and 7 autonomous trucks for real-time data processing required by its autonomous driving system.

Isuzu Motors’ $30 million investment in Gatik in 2024 aims to develop Level 4 autonomous commercial vehicles in North America, focusing on a redundant chassis for autonomous driving to ensure system recovery in case of defects.

Isuzu and Gatik are working towards mass production of the jointly developed chassis from 2027, targeting the start of Isuzu’s Level 4 autonomous commercial vehicle business in the same year, as indicated in Isuzu’s 2025 integrated report.

Gatik’s trucks are classified as Level 4 autonomous vehicles, capable of performing driving tasks without human intervention within predefined conditions known as Operational Design Domains (ODD), encompassing road, geographic, and environmental factors.

Gatik CEO Gautam Narang highlighted that the current third-generation trucks operate on highways and surface streets, functioning around the clock under varying conditions, including light rain and snow.
