Revolutionizing Ferrari: The All-Electric Luce Redefines Tradition

Ferrari has recently introduced the Luce, its very first all-electric vehicle. This groundbreaking car can accommodate up to five passengers and features four doors, marking a significant departure from Ferrari’s traditional two-door supercars. Initial feedback on social media regarding the design of the Luce has been mixed, with some critics noting similarities to other electric vehicles on the market. The development of the 2027 Ferrari Luce was a collaborative effort with Jony Ive’s design agency, LoveFrom, the former Apple design chief.

Historically, luxury car manufacturers like Ferrari and Lamborghini have hesitated to fully embrace electric vehicles due to low demand and intense competition, particularly from Chinese brands. However, the Luce represents a bold step forward for Ferrari, with a performance-driven design that sets it apart from its predecessors. The vehicle is powered by four electric motors, one at each wheel, drawing energy from a 122 kWh battery pack that also serves as a structural component of the chassis. The 2027 Ferrari Luce boasts an 800-volt architecture and can charge at speeds of up to 350 kW.

In terms of performance, the Luce is equipped with four synchronous permanent electric motors, with the front motor producing 282 horsepower and the rear generating an impressive 831 horsepower. The total power output of the vehicle reaches 1035 horsepower, surpassing any other road-going Ferrari model. Ferrari estimates that the Luce can travel up to 330 miles on a single charge, with acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 192 mph. The car also features a launch mode that optimizes traction control and provides an additional 54 horsepower torque boost.

Inside the Luce, drivers will find a torque meter above the speedometer, reminiscent of traditional Ferrari upshift indicators. The vehicle’s interior is characterized by a mix of modern technology and classic design elements, with a central touchscreen that can be adjusted for driver or passenger use. Rear-seat passengers have their own screen with toggle switches in the back center console, and the rear doors are rear-hinged, providing easy access to the spacious trunk, the largest ever seen in a Ferrari.

The 2027 Ferrari Luce is set to go on sale in Europe later this year, with an estimated price of around 550,000 euros or $640,000. Sales in the United States are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027, although pricing for the US market has not yet been disclosed.
