Australia to trial AI-powered traffic lights for the first time

Similar AI-controlled traffic signal systems have been successfully implemented in cities like Pittsburgh, where travel times have been reduced by up to 25% and vehicle idling time has decreased by 40%.

In addition to traffic management, AI technology has also been used to enhance pedestrian safety at busy intersections in Australia. A trial in Manly, Sydney, saw a significant reduction in risky crossings by utilizing smart cameras, AI data processing, and adaptive traffic lights.
