Global Nutrition Powerhouse: Berry Street and Healthify Merge as GLP-1 Surges
U.S. Nutrition Startup Berry Street Merges with Indian Startup Healthify
Berry Street, a U.S. nutrition startup, announced its merger with Healthify, an Indian startup backed by Khosla Ventures, to capitalize on the rising popularity of GLP-1 drugs for weight loss.
The financial terms of the merger were not disclosed. A report by JP Morgan predicts that by 2030, over 30 million people in the U.S. will be using GLP-1 drugs.
Noah Kotlove, the founder of Berry Street, and Tushar Vashisht, the founder of Healthify, will serve as co-CEOs of the merged entity. While operating under the Berry Street name in the U.S., the company will use the Healthify brand in markets like India.
Healthify, which has raised more than $150 million in funding, offers AI-powered and human fitness and nutritional coaching through an app. The company recently expanded its operations in the U.S. and introduced GLP-1-aided programs in India, serving over 45 million customers.
Vashisht stated in a press release, “Healthify’s mission is to provide dietitian services to everyone through AI. Berry Street provides us with the clinical expertise and infrastructure to fulfill this promise in the U.S. market on a large scale.”
With a network of 2,000 clinics, Berry Street offers insurance-covered GLP-1 care. The company raised $50 million last year from investors like Northzone, Sofina, and FJ Labs. Berry Street also offers AI-powered nutrition coaching and meal tracking, serving over 200,000 individuals in partnership with major platforms like Amazon and Walmart.
Vinod Khosla, founder of Khosla Ventures, commented, “By combining AI with expert clinicians, Healthify and Berry Street are revolutionizing metabolic care, providing daily nutrition guidance and dietitian advice to all.”
