Meet Marc Whitten, Dolby Laboratories’ New President and CEO

Former Microsoft and Amazon executive, Marc Whitten, has been appointed as the new president and CEO of San Francisco-based Dolby Laboratories, succeeding Kevin Yeaman, who led the company for almost two decades.

Whitten’s impressive career includes 17 years at Microsoft, where he held the position of corporate vice president and chief product officer for Xbox. He also served as chief product officer at Sonos and vice president of entertainment devices and services at Amazon, overseeing products like Alexa, Kindle, and Fire TV.

His experience extends to roles such as president of Unity Create, CEO of Cruise, and vice president of robotics at Meta.

Leadership Changes at Fred Hutch Cancer Center

Dr. Lawrence Fong has been appointed as the senior vice president and director of the Translational Science and Therapeutics Division at Fred Hutch Cancer Center, effective December 1. He takes over from Dr. Geoff Hill, who will be leaving the organization in December.

Dr. Fong previously served as the scientific director of the Immunotherapy Integrated Research Center and Bezos Family Distinguished Scholar in Immunotherapy at Fred Hutch. His background includes founding the Cancer Immunotherapy Program at the University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Andrew Hsieh, the associate director of the Fred Hutch Human Biology Division, has been named the inaugural Larry and Virginia Gordon Endowed Chair in Prostate and Bladder Cancer Research. Dr. Hsieh is a physician-scientist specializing in genitourinary cancers at Fred Hutch.
