Amazon AI Assistant: The Ultimate Protector Against Fake Emails

Amazon has introduced a new feature to help users combat impersonation scams using its AI assistant, Alexa. This feature allows users to verify the authenticity of emails, text messages, or phone calls claiming to be from Amazon. By asking Alexa for Shopping, users can have the AI compare the message they received against Amazon’s records, analyzing content, formatting, and sender information.

Amazon has emphasized that Alexa will only confirm a message as real if it is completely certain. An example provided by Amazon showcases a customer asking Alexa if a specific message containing a One Time Password (OTP) from a particular number was indeed sent by Amazon. Alexa confirms the authenticity of the message, reassuring the customer that it was a genuine OTP from Amazon.

In cases where Alexa determines that a message is not from Amazon, users will be advised to check their orders within the app and reach out to Amazon’s support team directly. This new feature builds upon a previous initiative launched by Amazon that allows users to forward suspicious messages to “verify@amazon.com” for confirmation of authenticity.
