Square Enix has announced that the iconic villain Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII will make an appearance in the upcoming game Final Fantasy Resonance. The game is a new title inspired by the popular free-to-play mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, set in the world of Lapis. The story unfolds in a world facing annihilation, plagued by evil forces that threaten its very existence. Players take on the role of Rain, a knight of Gransheld, embarking on a journey to defeat monsters and villains in strategic turn-based combat.

Drawing inspiration from games like Octopath Traveler, Final Fantasy Resonance features a unique visual style known as HD-2D. The game combines 3D environments with 2D sprites, creating a distinctive look and feel. Players can recruit Visions – characters from various Final Fantasy games, such as Cloud Strife – to aid them in battle.
