McLaren P34 to Replace Artura in 2028: A New Era Begins
The McLaren Artura: A Brief History and End of Production
The McLaren Artura, an entry-level hybrid supercar, will mark the end of its production in 2028 after a successful six-year run. This model will pave the way for the introduction of the P34 in the McLaren lineup.
In 2020, McLaren revealed the Artura as a replacement for the 570S, positioning it as a direct competitor to the likes of the Ferrari F8 Tributo and Lamborghini Huracan. However, due to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and the global semiconductor shortage, deliveries of the Artura were delayed.
When the McLaren Artura finally hit the roads, it faced tough competition from Ferrari’s 296 GTB and Lamborghini’s Temerario, both offering significantly higher performance figures compared to the 670 hp Artura.
Reports suggest that potential buyers were deterred by the delayed launch and perceived technical shortcomings of the McLaren Artura. Many viewed it as merely an upgraded version of the 570S with a V6 hybrid powertrain that delivered average performance.

Despite the lukewarm response from the market, McLaren went ahead and introduced the Artura Spider in 2024. This variant featured an upgraded 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 hybrid engine, producing 690 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque, along with a revised 8-speed transmission.
As the McLaren Artura reaches the end of its production cycle, enthusiasts can reflect on its journey in the hypercar world, from its ambitious launch to its eventual evolution into the Artura Spider. It remains a testament to McLaren’s commitment to innovation and performance.
