2027 Honda Civic Type R: Revamped and Ready to Roar

The Honda Civic Type R in the US has received an update with various technical enhancements and interior changes, including a new horn. These updates were announced by American Honda Motor, with the arrival of the new models in US dealerships set for October 2026.

While the release date for the updated models in Australia is yet to be confirmed, the most recent batch of 98 Civic Type Rs for Australia was quickly sold out in July 2026. Honda Australia director Rob Thorp expressed confidence in the possibility of another shipment of Civic Type Rs arriving in 2027.

The US version of the Civic Type R features a redesigned front bumper to enhance cooling for the turbocharged engine, a new retro-inspired engine cover, and a deeper front splitter for improved road holding. The standard Brembo brakes now offer a more direct pedal feel, thanks to a new yoke spring in the pedal assembly.

Other enhancements include an improved rev-matching system for the manual transmission, retuned damping settings for the most aggressive drive mode, and a new color option exclusive to the 2027 model. Inside, heated sports bucket seats with three temperature settings, a new upholstery design for better grip, and cosmetic interior changes are among the updates.

The 2027 Civic Type R also introduces Google Built-in and two USB-C ports for enhanced connectivity. The current generation of Civic has been on sale since 2021, with a new generation expected in 2028.

The Civic Type R, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2027, has a rich history dating back to the original EK9 Civic Type R in 1997. Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the Honda Prelude coupe, but there have been no announcements regarding the production of a Prelude Type R.

In conclusion, the Honda Civic Type R continues to evolve with each new model year, offering enhanced performance and features to enthusiasts around the world. Explore the Honda Civic showroom for more information on this iconic vehicle.
