Nicolas Cage has taken a firm stance against artificial intelligence, stating that he is unlikely to collaborate with Amazon in the future. This decision stemmed from his refusal to sign an AI waiver for his Prime Video series “Spider-Noir,” which has since been canceled.

During a panel at New York Comic Con, Cage candidly expressed his disapproval of Amazon’s AI-friendly policies, citing the company’s significant investment in OpenAI. The actor emphasized his reluctance to engage with AI technology, leading to a rift between him and the studio.

The series “Spider-Noir,” based on the Marvel Comics character, featured Cage as Ben Reilly, a former vigilante turned private investigator in 1930s New York City. Despite earning 11 Emmy Award nominations, the show was abruptly canceled after its first season.

Known for his daring performances in films like “Leaving Las Vegas” and “National Treasure,” Cage hinted at his upcoming role in Season 5 of HBO’s “True Detective.” He also expressed a preference for collaborating with emerging directors who share his skepticism towards AI technology.

Cage’s aversion to AI extends to his future creative endeavors, as he seeks to partner with young directors who rely on manual, hands-on techniques rather than generative tech. This approach aligns with his desire to engage in authentic and traditional filmmaking processes.
