Microsoft Paint can now make AI coloring books

Microsoft has unveiled new AI capabilities for its Paint and Notepad apps on Windows, providing users with advanced text editing and digital illustration features. These updates are currently being rolled out to Windows Insiders in the Windows 11 Canary and Dev channels.

One of the standout features is the “Coloring book” tool in Paint, which allows users to create coloring templates based on a text prompt. By selecting the Coloring book option from the Copilot menu, users can describe the design they want to generate, such as “a cute fluffy cat on a donut.” Paint will then provide four results for users to choose from and add to their canvas for coloring or printing.

Notepad has also received significant updates, including AI-generated results for Write, Rewrite, and Summarize features. This allows users to quickly preview text results without waiting for the full response. Additionally, Notepad now supports additional Markdown syntax features like strikethrough formatting and nested lists.

Both apps have seen improvements to enhance user experience and functionality. The Fill tolerance slider in Paint provides more control over the Fill tool, while Notepad’s new welcome experience gives users a quick overview of available features. These updates are geared towards making AI-infused Windows 11 devices more appealing to consumers.

Overall, Microsoft’s commitment to innovation and user-friendly features in its apps showcases its dedication to providing cutting-edge technology to its users. With these updates, Paint and Notepad are poised to become even more versatile tools for digital editing and illustration on Windows devices.
