Apple Music Subscription Prices Set to Increase

Apple Music users in the US will now have to pay more for their subscriptions, as Apple has raised the prices for individual, family, and student plans. The individual plan now costs $11.99 per month, up from $10.99, while the family plan is priced at $19.99 per month, up from $16.99. Similarly, the student plan has increased to $6.99 per month from $5.99. According to a statement provided to Music Business Worldwide, Apple attributes these price hikes to the increasing licensing costs in the music industry.

Reports from Music Business Worldwide indicate that the price increases have also affected Apple Music users in the UK and Europe, with the possibility of other countries facing similar hikes. When contacted by The Verge for comment, Apple did not immediately respond.

This recent price adjustment follows Apple’s previous increase in October 2022, which also affected Apple TV Plus and Apple One subscriptions. Additionally, Apple is reportedly raising prices for AppleCare Plus subscriptions for Macs and iPads. The music streaming competition is also feeling the impact, as Spotify raised its Premium plan price in the US from $11.99 to $12.99 per month. On a different note, CD sales in the US have surprisingly been on the rise.

In addition to Apple Music, Apple has also adjusted the prices of its Apple One subscriptions, as reported by MacMagazine. The Family plan now costs $27.95 per month, while the Premier plan is priced at $39.95 per month, both representing a $2 increase from their previous costs. The individual plan remains unchanged at $19.95 per month.
