Unicorn Power: Skeleton Technologies Secures Multi-Million Funding for US AI Expansion
Skeleton Technologies, a high-power systems developer for AI infrastructure based in Tallinn, has recently announced a significant investment from Siemens, totaling in the “9-digit” range. This investment has propelled Skeleton’s valuation to over €899 million ($1 billion). The primary focus of this investment is to accelerate Skeleton’s expansion in the US manufacturing sector and enhance its research and development activities in Silicon Valley. This move comes in response to the increasing demand from hyperscalers for AI data-center power systems.
CEO of Skeleton Technologies, Taavi Madiberk, highlighted the importance of this investment in meeting the fast-paced scaling of AI infrastructure. He emphasized that the limitation is not in the number of GPUs available but in the efficiency of extracting compute power from each GPU and megawatt of energy.
This investment aligns with a trend in 2026 of European funding rounds targeting the physical infrastructure and energy requirements of AI data centers. Companies like iPronics in Spain, Orbital Industries in London, and Gaussion in the UK have also secured significant funding for enhancing their technologies in this sector.
Skeleton Technologies, established in 2009, specializes in providing resilience to AI data centers, electrical grids, defense systems, and critical infrastructure. Their power systems offer protection against spikes and instability, enabling hyperscalers to operate at higher rack densities while achieving up to 40% energy savings in AI data centers.
The core technology behind Skeleton’s systems is their proprietary Curved Graphene material, designed for efficient power delivery and extended cell life. By combining these cells with power electronics and system-level controls, Skeleton can effectively manage the dynamic power demands of AI clusters.
Siemens, a long-time partner of Skeleton, has deepened its relationship through this recent investment. Together, they aim to develop benchmark solutions for next-generation data centers, leveraging Siemens’ industrial electrical infrastructure expertise and Skeleton’s fast-response power systems.
The partnership between Siemens and Skeleton will focus on addressing the growing demand from hyperscalers in the US, with plans to establish domestic cell manufacturing to create a fully integrated US value chain. This strategic move will bring Skeleton’s technology and manufacturing closer to its largest AI infrastructure customers in the United States.
In conclusion, Skeleton Technologies’ latest investment from Siemens marks a significant milestone in the advancement of AI data-center infrastructure. Their innovative power systems are poised to play a crucial role in meeting the escalating energy demands of AI-focused data centers, contributing to increased efficiency and performance in the industry.
