Fiat Grizzly: New model pushes Fiat a little further upmarket

The Unveiling of the New Fiat Grizzly

Recently, at the Stellantis investors conference, the first images and details of the highly anticipated Fiat Grizzly were finally revealed. This unveiling also included the announcement of the return of the iconic Citroen 2CV, marking a significant moment for the company.

The Fiat Grizzly, although overshadowed by the excitement around the 2CV’s comeback, is set to play a crucial role in expanding the Fiat lineup, both in terms of quantity and size. Currently, Fiat’s European range mainly consists of small city cars such as the 500, Panda, Grande Panda, and the 600. The largest model available is the Ulysse people mover.

The Grizzly will be offered in two body styles: a traditional SUV and a coupe SUV with a sleek fastback design. Based on the images shared at the conference, the Grizzly appears to share similarities with the Opel Frontera and Citroen C3 Aircross, albeit slightly smaller in size.

Expected to fill the gap between the Frontera and C3 Aircross, the Grizzly is speculated to offer a seating capacity that falls somewhere between the seven-seater Frontera and C3 Aircross and the five-seater Grande Panda. Like its counterparts, the Grizzly will be built on the Stellantis Smart Car Platform, supporting various drivetrains including petrol, mild hybrid, and electric options.

Speaking of powertrains, while specific details have not been released, it is anticipated that the Grizzly will share similar options with the Opel Frontera and Citroen C3 Aircross, including a 48V mild hybrid and electric variants.

Enthusiasts can expect to see the production version of the Grizzly SUV and coupe models debut at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. This event will also showcase the concept version of the next-generation Citroen 2CV, adding to the excitement surrounding Stellantis’ lineup.

As part of the FaSTLAne 2030 turnaround plan, Stellantis plans to launch 60 new vehicles by 2030, including the electric 2CV and a Fiat model to replace the current Panda. Additionally, the automaker has revealed future plans for its Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, and Dodge brands.

Overall, the Fiat Grizzly represents a significant step forward for Fiat, offering a fresh and innovative addition to their lineup. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new model!
