MG Unveils Two Concepts at 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed

MG has recently showcased two exciting concepts at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. One of these concepts is set to enter production within the next year, while the other offers a glimpse into the brand’s design direction and a potential large electric SUV.

The first concept, known as the MG Go!, draws inspiration from iconic MG models such as the MGB GT, Metro Turbo, and ZR hot hatch. Designed by MG’s London design center, the Go! concept aims to blend modern compact design with a touch of nostalgia, creating a vehicle that is both contemporary and charming.

According to Carl Gotham, head of advanced design at the London studio, the goal was to create a vehicle that is compact, contemporary, and immediately appealing to consumers.

The MG Go! concept is expected to pave the way for the upcoming MG 2 EV, which is slated for release in Europe and the UK around mid-2027. While specific details about the MG 2 are scarce, it is believed to be an electric vehicle around four meters in length, targeting the light car segment.

It is speculated that the MG 2 will utilize the E3 architecture from the MG 4 Urban, offering electric motor options ranging from 110kW to 120kW and battery capacities of 43kWh or 54kWh.

The production version of the MG 2 is likely to feature design elements such as higher-profile tires, revised bumpers, and full-size wing mirrors, while retaining the distinctive silhouette of the concept.

The second concept revealed by MG is the Cyber, which serves as a preview for the brand’s new design language and a forthcoming large electric SUV that will serve as MG’s flagship model.

Inspired by the EX181 land speed record holder from 1957, the Cyber concept aims to embody the emotional appeal and dynamic character traditionally associated with sports cars.

Details regarding the Cyber’s drivetrain, performance figures, and range have not been disclosed yet, leaving enthusiasts eager for more information about this futuristic concept.

The Cyber concept marks the third installment in MG’s ‘Cyber’ series of concepts, following the Cyberster and Cyber X. While the Cyber X is expected to enter production soon, the Cyber might take a few more years to hit the market, as MG’s SUV lineup may undergo a facelift cycle beforehand.

Overall, MG’s latest concepts showcase the brand’s commitment to innovation and design excellence, setting the stage for an exciting future in the electric vehicle market.
