Ghent-based Sensie raises €500k to bring real-time plant intelligence to greenhouse growers

Sensie Raises €500k in Pre-Seed Funding Round to Boost Plant Intelligence

Sensie, an innovative AgTech startup based in Ghent, has secured a significant investment of €500k in a pre-Seed funding round. The funding will be utilized to enhance plant intelligence solutions for professional greenhouse growers.

The funding round was led by Division Q, with contributions from NewSchool.vc and Percival Participations. This development comes on the heels of Sensie’s successful greenhouse deployments, public launch, and its recent nomination as a Top 3 finalist for the prestigious GreenTech Innovation Awards 2026. The winner will be announced at the upcoming GreenTech Amsterdam event.

Olivier Begerem, co-founder and CEO of Sensie, expressed his excitement on LinkedIn, stating, “The past six weeks have been incredibly exciting. From our initial greenhouse installations to introducing Sensie to the market, joining the HortiHeroes ecosystem, and being recognized as a Top 3 nominee for the GreenTech Innovation Awards 2026. It has been a whirlwind in the best possible way.”

Begerem further added, “This funding is not just about financial support. It is about assembling the right team as we transition from our pilot installations to a system that growers can rely on daily. It provides us with the backing to continue innovating, testing, and refining our solutions in collaboration with growers, researchers, and technology partners.”

Established in 2025 by Begerem and Christophe Sysmans (CTO), Sensie aims to democratize plant intelligence by enabling professional growers to go beyond traditional climate and substrate data. The company’s innovative approach involves measuring real-time plant responses to optimize cultivation practices.

Sensie specializes in developing wireless plant health wearables for growers. These devices capture crucial physiological signals such as growth, water status, stress, and recovery, providing actionable insights for improved irrigation, climate control, and cultivation decisions.

The flagship product, Sensie Omni, offers a comprehensive solution by combining plant feedback with root-zone and climate data. This integration allows growers to monitor the interplay between root zone supply, micro-climate demand, and plant response in a single wireless device. The ultimate goal is to empower growers to make informed decisions based on real-time plant feedback.

NewSchool.vc highlighted the significance of Sensie’s technology, stating, “Modern greenhouse horticulture relies heavily on data-driven practices. However, the voice of the plant itself has often been overlooked. Sensie bridges this gap with affordable, wireless plant sensors that provide holistic insights, enabling growers to cultivate plants based on their actual physiological needs.”

With the recent funding injection, Sensie plans to enhance its hardware and software capabilities, accelerate commercial deployment, and expand its market presence. The company is actively seeking certified distributors, technology partners, and research collaborators to further advance its mission of revolutionizing plant-driven cultivation practices.
