SEALSQ’s Investment Revolutionizes Post-Quantum Financial Security with €5.4 Million Stake in Wecan Group
SEALSQ Corp (SEALSQ), a post-quantum cybersecurity company, has acquired a majority equity stake in Wecan Group, a Geneva-based startup specializing in compliance solutions for private banks and financial institutions. This strategic transaction follows an initial 28% investment made one year ago. SEALSQ will invest €5.4 million (CHF 5 million) to accelerate Wecan Group’s development and support the deployment of next-generation Compliance Co-pilote and post-quantum financial security solutions for the global financial industry.
Vincent Pignon, founder and CEO of Wecan Group, expressed, “Wecan Group was established to assist financial institutions in efficiently managing trust, compliance, and sensitive client information. With SEALSQ as a majority shareholder and strategic technology partner, we are embarking on a new phase of growth. This investment will enable us to expedite the deployment of our Compliance Copilote and enhance our infrastructure with post-quantum security capabilities, offering banks and financial institutions future-ready solutions for client lifecycle.”
Founded in 2015 by Dr. Vincent Pignon, Wecan Group’s mission is to help financial institutions securely optimize the management of their compliance processes. The company’s platform serves as a solution for orchestrating onboarding, change-of-circumstance, and periodic-review processes for the end clients of regulated institutions, whether individuals, companies, trusts, or others.
Wecan Group provides products designed to digitally onboard clients, manage KYC and AML analysis, facilitate account openings, generate contracts, and conduct periodic reviews, all while ensuring regulatory compliance with full auditability. Notable clients include Pictet, Lombard Odier, Edmond de Rothschild, Syz, and Barclays, among others.
SEALSQ specializes in post-quantum technology hardware and software solutions. The company focuses on developing quantum-resistant cryptography and semiconductors to address the security challenges posed by quantum computing. By embedding Post-Quantum Cryptography into its semiconductor solutions, SEALSQ ensures that organizations remain protected against quantum threats.
Carlos Moreira, CEO of SEALSQ, stated, “Our majority investment in Wecan Group marks a significant advancement in SEALSQ’s strategy to bring post-quantum security to the most critical sectors of the global economy. Financial institutions and digital asset platforms are entering a new era where cybersecurity, compliance automation, digital identity, and trusted AI must converge.”
Through this majority participation, Wecan Group and SEALSQ aim to accelerate the implementation of an AI-powered Compliance Copilote, built on a secure post-quantum infrastructure. The platform will integrate advanced Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) technologies, quantum-resistant Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), secure digital identity frameworks, and blockchain-based trust mechanisms to safeguard sensitive financial data against future quantum computing threats.
The initiative seeks to enhance trusted AI governance, explainable compliance algorithms, confidential AI, encrypted data processing, and quantum-resilient digital identity systems for institutional and retail financial ecosystems.
