Unveiling the Features of the Google Pixel Watch 5 LTE Model
Anticipation is building for the release of the Pixel Watch 5, with leaks surfacing in various forms, including one reportedly found at the bottom of the sea. The latest development is the submission of Google’s upcoming flagship smartwatch to the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), although this move has sparked some confusion.
The FCC listings confirm the imminent arrival of the Pixel Watch 5, with models identified under the designations G25QD, G1XJ6, G0F3Y, and GFW3R, as previously revealed in a BIS listing. All models are categorized as ‘wireless devices,’ hinting at the launch of the usual four wearables with two size options and different connectivity choices.
The listings, however, raise confusion as they indicate that all models will have LTE (4G) in addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities. This suggests that there may not be a more budget-friendly Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-only configuration as seen in previous releases.

There have been speculations about the possibility of Google introducing a Pro or Ultra model alongside the Pixel Watch 5, but it is more likely that all models will share the same internal components. The inclusion of a 4G-capable modem on the circuit board, with the functionality disabled at the firmware level before shipping, is akin to certain vehicles leaving factories with speed limiters for specific purposes.
The absence of a 5G upgrade in the Pixel Watch 5 compared to competitors like the Apple Watch Series 11 may be the more significant revelation. Despite the upcoming smartwatches in 2026 featuring the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite chipset with 5G capabilities, it appears that both the Pixel Watch 5 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 series will stick to 4G LTE connectivity.

The decision to forego 5G upgrades in light of the current memory crisis, which has led to significant price hikes in tech products, may be a strategic one. Given that most consumers may not fully utilize or appreciate the benefits of 5G, opting for a more cost-effective version without compromising profits seems to be the preferred approach. Expect a price increase for the Pixel Watch 5 as part of this strategy.
The countdown to the launch of the Pixel Watch 5 is on, with the release scheduled for August alongside the Pixel 11 phones. Meanwhile, Samsung is gearing up to unveil the Galaxy Watch 9 series, including the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, at its rumored Unpacked event on July 22.
