Warhammer 40,000: The Ultimate Battle – PS5 Edition
Warhammer 40,000 Speed Freeks: A Must-Have Car Combat Game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
When it comes to Warhammer 40,000 video games, the options can sometimes be overwhelming, but one title that stands out from the rest is Warhammer 40,000 Speed Freeks. This highly anticipated game now has a confirmed release date for PS5, and it’s set to hit the shelves on May 21st, with a physical release following on July 16th, starting at a retail price of around £16.99.
Developed by Caged Element and published by Wired Productions, the minds behind GRIP: Combat Racing, Speed Freeks takes a unique approach by focusing on the Orks rather than the typical Space Marines. Fans of the tabletop game will appreciate the nod to the greenskins’ love for Mad Max-style vehicles, making them the perfect choice for a car combat game.
Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks offers both solo and online gameplay, featuring two primary game modes. In Deff Rally, players engage in a vehicular twist on the traditional headquarters game mode, where Orks fight to control a checkpoint on the map while racing through gates to earn points.
On the other hand, Kill Konvoy puts a new spin on capture the flag, with teams vying to secure bombs that must be dropped in their opponent’s endzone, located at the feet of a massive Ork Stompa as it advances across the battlefield.
In a review of Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks, Dom gave the game a solid 8/10 rating, praising its multiplayer mayhem as a refreshing departure from the darker tones of other Games Workshop titles. Having spent hours playing the game myself, I can attest to its ability to fill the void left by the lack of modern car combat games.
While the car combat genre saw a decline in popularity in the late 90s, Speed Freeks breathes new life into the genre, offering a thrilling experience for players looking for fast-paced action and intense battles on wheels.
