Xpeng Australia Commits to Long-Term Customer Support Excellence
Xpeng, the Chinese automaker, made headlines on April 1, 2026, with the announcement of its decision to establish a factory-backed operation in Australia, bypassing independent distributor TrueEV. The latest update on the rollout of this new venture reveals significant progress.
According to a spokesperson from Xpeng ANZ, the company is focused on long-term growth in Australia. They stated, “The commitments we made on 1 April are being met, and the infrastructure established in our first two months reflects that commitment.”
Dealerships have now been opened in five states, including Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia. State offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney are operational to provide support to these dealerships.
Xpeng has also set up a parts warehouse in Melbourne in collaboration with FedEx, offering next-day parts delivery to Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne, and two-day delivery to Brisbane (with next-day delivery available for urgent orders). Additionally, a dedicated customer care channel has been established to address any outstanding promotion-related matters.
The company has launched a new Australian website that showcases the upgraded G6 model, with plans to reveal pricing and specifications in the near future. The site does not currently feature information on other upcoming models.
Xpeng ANZ has hinted at more new models on the horizon, with a focus on the New G6 and X9. Detailed specifications and pricing for these models are expected to be announced in the second quarter of the year.
While Xpeng ANZ is exploring the possibility of introducing additional models like the G9L and P7 electric sedan, no concrete details on their availability, specifications, or launch dates have been confirmed yet.
The company’s decision to establish its own distribution operation has led to a legal dispute with TrueEV, with a trial set for October. Xpeng believes that handling its own distribution network will lead to improved customer service, while TrueEV has alleged “unconscionable conduct” by Xpeng in terminating their exclusive distribution agreement.
TrueEV’s CEO, Jason Clarke, has issued a public apology for the lack of communication regarding the legal battle and has reassured customers that warranties and cashback offers will continue to be honored.
The future of Xpeng’s distribution in Australia remains uncertain, with the possibility of both factory-operated and third-party distributors handling the brand. TrueEV currently distributes the G6 electric SUV, positioning it as a competitor to popular models like the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7.
