BMW 1M MEET E30 M3 313

The annual 1M Register meet brought together E82 BMW 1M Coupes from nine different countries, with first-generation E30 M3s as special guests. The event, organized by Oliver Lindstedt of the register, saw 85 BMW 1 Series M Coupes and 50 E30 M3s at the Ring Boulevard at the Nurburgring.

During the gathering, it was highlighted that BMW produced 6,309 1M Coupes for customers between 2011 and June 2012, with only 740 of them being allocated to the US market. Additionally, a unique Java Green 1M clone, originally a 120d, now features the powerful P65 V8 engine from the Z4 GT3 race car, thanks to Imran Arshad, the new managing director of AC Schnitzer.

The comparison between the E30 M3 and the 1M may seem unlikely at first glance, given their different engines and eras. However, both models share similarities in terms of body size, front-mounted engines, and rear-wheel drive configurations. The 1M, built using E92 M3 components, pays homage to the spirit of the E30 M3, with the current G87 M2 being considered its direct successor.

The meet also showcased the global appeal of the 1M, with owners traveling from nine countries across Europe to participate. The #1ermregister, an online project tracking 650 1M Coupes from 58 countries, aims to foster a community of enthusiasts who gather annually to celebrate their shared passion for these unique vehicles.

The event’s success underscores the enduring popularity of the BMW 1M Coupe, with plans for future gatherings already in motion. The blend of classic E30 M3s and modern 1M Coupes continues to captivate automotive enthusiasts worldwide, ensuring that these iconic models remain a focal point of admiration and celebration within the BMW community.
