Google and Samsung Introduce Gemini: A Look at Task Automation on Latest Devices

Recently, Google and Samsung made waves with the announcement of a groundbreaking development called Gemini for their newest devices. This development focuses on task automation, starting with popular services like food delivery and ridesharing apps. Gemini aims to utilize certain apps on your behalf through a virtual window, enabling tasks such as ordering dinner or securing a ride to the airport with simple prompts. This advancement aligns with the long-standing promises of AI assistants being able to handle various tasks seamlessly.

During the initial stages of testing the S26 Ultra, the Gemini feature was not yet live. However, a recent beta update introduced this functionality, allowing users to witness their phones autonomously carrying out tasks.

One of the first tasks assigned to Gemini was to order an Uber to the airport. The system sought clarification to determine the specific airport before proceeding to input the destination. Notably, Gemini skipped the step of specifying the airline, a non-essential detail for certain airports. As expected, the system paused before the final step, prompting the user to review the details before confirming the request.

A more intricate request for a coffee and croissant demanded additional input from the user. Gemini diligently scrolled through the menu options of a popular coffee chain to find the desired items. When faced with the decision of whether to order the chocolate croissant warmed or not, Gemini autonomously chose to have it warmed, showcasing its ability to make nuanced decisions without constant user guidance.

The evolution of this automation feature is indeed impressive, considering the assistant’s past struggles in accurately interpreting and executing tasks. Further testing will be conducted to explore the full capabilities of Gemini, including challenging scenarios to assess its reliability and efficiency.
