Maximizing Your Health: Syncing Your Fitbit Data with Apple Health

Your Fitbit data can now connect directly to Apple Health

Google has recently released an update that enables users to seamlessly connect their Fitbit data, including workouts, steps, and vitals, to Apple Health. This update, reported by 9to5Mac, is part of Google Health’s 5.05 update. Users can now simply tap on their profile icon, go to “Partner apps,” and select Apple Health to link their data directly.

Previously, users could only import their Apple Health data into Google Health, creating a one-way data transfer. This limitation required the use of third-party apps like Power Sync for Fitbit or Fitbit to Apple Health Sync, or other workarounds to connect Google Health information to Apple Health.

In May, Google Health replaced the Fitbit app, but the transition wasn’t without its challenges. Users expressed concerns about the new AI health coach, user interface, and other issues. However, Google has since addressed some of these complaints to improve user experience.

In addition to the data syncing update, Google also introduced Smart Health Links for users in the US. This feature allows users to easily share medical records with healthcare providers or family members. Users can create a shareable link by navigating to the Health tab, selecting the “Medical” section, choosing “Shareable records,” and clicking on the “plus” icon. From there, users can select which data to include in the link and share it via a URL or QR code.

These updates from Google Health aim to enhance user experience and streamline the process of managing and sharing health data across different platforms. By enabling seamless integration with Apple Health and introducing Smart Health Links, Google is empowering users to take control of their health information in a more efficient and convenient way.
