Apple's Gemini-powered Siri upgrade could still arrive this month

Apple has been busy in March with a flurry of announcements. Among the highlights are eight new products, a record-breaking Mac launch, and 13 upcoming iPhone enhancements. Now, it seems that one of Apple’s most anticipated releases could finally be on the horizon: Personal Intelligence for Siri and Apple Intelligence.

Apple first introduced Apple Intelligence as part of iOS 18 at WWDC 2024 on June 10, 2024. Subsequently, Apple rolled out most of the Apple Intelligence features in various iOS 18.x updates. However, Personal Intelligence, along with the in-app action and on-screen awareness features originally promised, did not make it into the iOS 18 release cycle.

On March 7, 2025, Apple officially announced the delay of the “more personalized” version of Siri. The company stated its intention to deliver features that provide users with a more personalized experience and enhanced capabilities within apps and across devices. However, due to the complexity of the development process, Apple needed more time to perfect these features, pushing the release to the following year.

Fast forward to January 12, 2026, and Apple and Google made a joint announcement regarding a collaboration on a Gemini-powered upgrade to Siri and Apple Intelligence. This collaboration aims to leverage Google’s Al technology to enhance Apple’s Foundation Models and power future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri.

While Apple initially targeted iOS 26.4 for the first Gemini-powered enhancements, subsequent reports suggest that the new Siri features may be included in iOS 26.5 and iOS 27 instead. Apple has hinted at unveiling more Siri and Apple Intelligence features using the new system, surpassing the capabilities originally announced.

The timeline for these releases remains uncertain, but there is speculation that Gemini-powered features could debut in the first quarter of 2026. If Apple follows a consistent release cadence, we may see these features as early as March, with a potential beta release in iOS 26.5. However, the actual timeline may vary depending on the readiness of the features for a developer beta.

Ultimately, the hope is that Apple will deliver its long-awaited Siri and Apple Intelligence updates in the near future, offering users a more personalized and advanced experience. The exact timing of these releases remains to be seen, but the anticipation for enhanced Siri features is certainly building.
