Insights on BMW Canada’s First Quarter 2026 Sales Performance

  • BMW Canada experienced an 8.9% decline in sales, with deliveries totaling 5,866 units in the initial quarter of 2026.
  • The i4 emerged as the top-selling electric M model during this period.
  • Noteworthy sales increases were seen in the X3 (up by 56.8%) and the X7 (growing by 33.7%) compared to the first quarter of 2025.

Reflecting on the performance of BMW Canada in the first quarter of 2026 reveals a mixed bag of results. Despite the overall decrease in deliveries, SUV models played a crucial role in maintaining the brand’s momentum. Of particular note is the impressive surge in demand for the X3, which experienced a substantial 56.8% growth. Additionally, the aging X7 managed to achieve a commendable 33.7% increase in sales compared to the same period last year.

One of the most surprising outcomes was observed in the 3 Series segment, where G20 sales skyrocketed by an impressive 99%. Particularly noteworthy were the 330i xDrive and M340i xDrive sedans available in the Canadian market. The G80 variants, including the manual M3 and automatic M3 Competition, further contributed to this success. Notably, BMW Canada saw a significant uptick of nearly 14% in sales of M-branded models year over year.

Canada’s prominence as a global leader in M share percentage, despite other markets outperforming in absolute numbers, underscores the brand’s strong presence in the region. Looking ahead, while the anticipated arrival of the M2 xDrive may stir excitement, the forecast for the M lineup in 2026 remains relatively subdued.

In the realm of electric vehicles, the i4 emerged as the leading non-combustion engine model for BMW in the first quarter of 2026. Following closely behind was the iX, with expectations of heightened EV sales following the introduction of local iX3 deliveries later in the year. The upcoming i3 sedan, set to debut in Canada in the first half of 2027, adds to the brand’s electrification strategy.

While MINI experienced a 3.3% decline in shipments, the Countryman stood out with an 11.4% growth rate in the first quarter of 2026.

Collectively, BMW and MINI recorded a total of 6,696 vehicle sales in Canada between January and March, marking an 8.3% decrease compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. Notably, electrified models, including plug-in hybrids and EVs, accounted for 9.8% of the total sales across both brands.

Shifting focus to the Motorrad division, motorcycle sales witnessed a 16.3% decline, totaling 417 units. Popular models included the S 1000 RR, R 1300 RT, R 1300 GSA, R 1300 GS, and the G 310 R.
