Amazon Elevates Prasad Kalyanaraman to S-team and Dave Brown to SVP in AWS Leadership Shift

Amazon recently announced the addition of Prasad Kalyanaraman to its senior leadership team, known as the S-team or “steam.” This move comes alongside the promotion of Dave Brown to senior vice president, leading cloud computing and AI services within the company.

The appointment of Prasad Kalyanaraman reflects his oversight of AWS infrastructure, including data centers, networking, and supply chain management. With over two decades of experience at Amazon, he transitioned from fulfillment and supply chain operations to the cloud division in 2012.

According to a memo from CEO Andy Jassy, Kalyanaraman’s promotion highlights his customer-centric approach, high standards, consistent delivery, and dedication to the company’s overall success, in alignment with Amazon’s leadership principles.

Dave Brown, now a senior vice president at Amazon, is responsible for leading AWS compute services (EC2) and AI services such as Bedrock and SageMaker. Having been part of the S-team since 2023, his promotion recognizes his exceptional delivery, forward-thinking approach, customer-centric mindset, and team development efforts.

The addition of Kalyanaraman brings the S-team’s total members back to 28, following recent departures and changes in leadership roles within the company. The team dynamics continue to evolve as Amazon focuses on its core values and strategic direction.

Among the notable departures from the S-team are individuals such as Adam Selipsky, Dave Limp, Rohit Prasad, Tony Hoggett, and Rob Williams, reflecting a period of transition and growth within Amazon’s leadership structure.

As Amazon’s S-team evolves, it remains a diverse group of executives overseeing various aspects of the company’s operations, from emerging markets and selling partner services to corporate and business development, highlighting Amazon’s commitment to innovation and customer-centricity.
