Apple and Intel Reportedly Reaching Agreement for Chip Production

According to a recent report from The Wall Street Journal, Apple and Intel have reached a “preliminary agreement” for Intel to manufacture chips for Apple hardware. This collaboration comes after Apple’s successful transition to Apple Silicon, moving away from Intel-powered computers.

The specific Apple products that will receive Intel chips remain uncertain, as stated by the WSJ. Intel spokesperson Kiana Ducey declined to provide further details, while Apple has yet to comment on the matter.

Recent reports from Bloomberg suggest that Apple has been in talks with both Intel and Samsung regarding the production of Apple’s processor chips in the US. Currently, Apple collaborates with TSMC, based in Taiwan, for chip production. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Intel may begin shipping “Apple’s lowest-end M processor” as early as 2027. Additionally, Bloomberg mentioned Intel’s interest in potential investment opportunities with Apple.

Update, May 8th: Intel has chosen not to comment on the ongoing discussions.
