Microsoft’s big developer conference returns to San Francisco in June

Microsoft Build Conference: What to Expect

Microsoft is set to make a significant appearance at the upcoming Build conference in San Francisco. This event marks a crucial moment for the tech giant as it aims to reconnect with developers and outline its future direction.

One of the key highlights of the conference is expected to be the unveiling of new AI models in Windows, including a new reasoning model and a Copilot “super app.” Additionally, Microsoft will provide insights into the enhancements made to the Windows developer experience, catering to the needs expressed by developers.

Furthermore, Microsoft will share details about the ongoing efforts to improve Windows 11 performance and user experience. The company has already made progress in this area, with the Windows Insider team preparing to showcase more customization changes.

Another focal point of the conference will be Windows’ adaptation to new silicon technologies, such as Nvidia’s RTX Spark. There will be a focus on local models running on Windows, offering developers access to local compute resources instead of relying solely on cloud models.

During the keynote address, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is expected to discuss the new RTX Spark announcement with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. Additionally, updates on Microsoft’s collaboration with Qualcomm to expand Windows on Arm are anticipated.

Microsoft AI chief Mustafa Suleyman will introduce the MAI-Thinking-1 model at the conference, the company’s first reasoning model targeted at enterprise use. This model is part of a series of new models, including MAI-Image-2.5 and MAI-Image-2.5-Flash.

Moreover, Microsoft will shed light on the upcoming Copilot “super app,” which integrates various Copilot AI assistants into a unified interface. The company is working on developing this app, with a preview expected to be available later this summer.

Expectations are also high for updates on GitHub improvements at the conference. Microsoft faces challenges in regaining trust in GitHub following recent issues, and the Build conference presents an opportunity to address these concerns.

Stay tuned for comprehensive coverage of all the latest announcements from Microsoft Build, starting at 9:30 AM PT / 12:30 PM ET on Tuesday, June 2nd.
