Uncover the Hidden iPhone Reminders Settings in iOS 26
The Reminders app on your iPhone is more than just a simple to-do list. It offers a range of features that many users may not be aware of. We believe that Reminders is a highly underrated productivity tool for iOS users.
Designed to simplify your life, Reminders can be a powerful ally if you know how to make the most of it. Here are three hidden gems within the app that are worth exploring.
1. Smart Grocery Lists
When you create a list labeled as “Groceries” and start adding items, Reminders automatically categorizes each item into relevant sections. This eliminates the need for manual organization.
How many times have you found yourself backtracking in the grocery store because your list wasn’t organized efficiently? This smart grocery list feature solves that problem seamlessly.
To add a new grocery list in the Reminders app, follow these steps:
- Open the Reminders app.
- Create a new list by tapping the new list icon in the top-right corner, between the magnifying glass and More button (…).
- Name the list as you prefer, such as “Groceries” or the name of a specific grocery store.
- Under List Type, select Groceries.
- You can now start adding items to your grocery list, with the assurance that they will be automatically categorized into sections.
2. Notes Field for Each Reminder
Every reminder in the app includes a hidden notes field below the title where you can add additional notes, links, or details without cluttering the title. Utilizing this feature can help maintain a clean and organized list while ensuring all necessary details are captured.
Here’s how to use the notes field:
- Open Reminders.
- Tap the Info button (the circled “i”) next to the title of an existing reminder, or tap the reminder title itself.
- If you tapped the information icon, you’ll see a Notes field. Enter your notes and tap Done.
- If you tapped the reminder title, you’ll find a prompt to Add Note on the next line. Enter your note there directly.
3. Early and Urgent Reminders
Instead of setting reminders for an exact date and time, consider using the app’s early reminder feature to provide yourself with ample preparation time. This feature can help prevent last-minute rushes and ensure you stay ahead of important tasks and deadlines.
Here’s how to set up an early reminder:
- Open the Reminders app and select an existing reminder or create a new one.
- Tap the Info button (the circled “i”) next to the reminder’s title.
- Set the reminder’s due date and time.
- Enable the Early Reminder option below the date and time settings.
- Choose how far in advance you want to be notified.
- Tap Done.
For urgent reminders, both a date and time must be set. You can mark a reminder as Urgent by following similar steps as with early reminders. This ensures that you receive timely notifications for critical tasks.
By exploring these features within the Reminders app, you can enhance your daily productivity and efficiency. From self-organizing grocery lists to detailed notes and timely reminders, the app offers much more than a basic checklist. Take the time to familiarize yourself with these functions, and you may uncover a newfound appreciation for this built-in productivity tool on your iPhone.
