Ford Australia has recently faced a series of high-profile recalls affecting some of its popular vehicles, such as the Ranger ute and Everest SUV. Despite these recalls, the company states that its brand image remains intact, and the reputation of individual models has not been tarnished.

According to the Australian government’s Vehicle Recalls website, there have been 120 vehicle recalls issued in 2026 across all brands and private importers. Ford Australia leads the pack with 19 recalls affecting 33,863 vehicles, surpassing Hyundai and Toyota.

Among the recalls, 13,907 Rangers were recalled last month, delaying deliveries until repairs were completed. This marked the fifth recall for the Ranger nameplate in 2026, contributing to a decline in sales for August.

Despite these challenges, Ford Australia’s marketing director, Ambrose Henderson, emphasized that safety is the top priority for the company. Henderson mentioned that recalls are a common occurrence in the automotive industry and that swift resolution and prioritizing safety are key.

So far this year, the Transit Custom commercial van has been the subject of the most Ford recalls, with six recalls, followed by the Ranger with five recalls.

In 2025, Ford Australia also led in recalls, affecting 110,362 vehicles across 26 recalls. The Mustang was the most frequently recalled model, with nine notices.

While Ford Australia has had its share of recalls, the company has seen an improvement in new-vehicle quality in the US, ranking highest among mass-market brands in the 2026 J.D. Power US Initial Quality Study. The study measures problems reported per 100 vehicles in the first 90 days of ownership.

Despite facing penalties for recall compliance issues in the past, Ford has made strides in enhancing quality and safety standards. The company’s commitment to resolving issues promptly and ensuring customer satisfaction remains a top priority.
