Genshin Impact's devs look to be working on a realistic fantasy MMO that uses some kind of AI, bad kind or not yet to be determined

miHoYo’s Upcoming MMO Genesis: A New Frontier in Gaming

miHoYo, the renowned game developer behind hits like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, is showing no signs of slowing down. With successful titles under their belt and exciting new releases on the horizon such as Petit Planet and Honkai: Nexus Anima, miHoYo is now venturing into the world of MMOs with a project codenamed Genesis. This upcoming game is shrouded in mystery but promises to incorporate cutting-edge AI technology.

Recently, a teaser video shared by miHoYo hinted at Genesis being a “fantasy realism open world game” built on Unreal Engine 5. The game is expected to feature PvP gameplay, “Intellectual NPC,” and intriguing elements like an “Artificial Intelligence Stimulated Eco System” and “All-Terrain Battle AI.”

It’s important to note that the term “AI” in this context may refer to advanced NPC behaviors rather than malevolent artificial intelligence. miHoYo has a history of incorporating AI in their games, such as Zenless Zone Zero. However, the specifics of an AI-stimulated ecosystem raise questions about its implications. As more information becomes available, it’s advisable to approach these details with caution and skepticism.

From the brief teaser, it seems that Genesis will offer a departure from miHoYo’s signature anime aesthetic seen in Genshin Impact. This shift towards a potentially less anime-inspired style suggests a new direction for the company, known for captivating players with charming characters. Genesis may mark a step towards diversifying miHoYo’s portfolio and appealing to a broader audience.
